Day 100 – 18th July
2013 - Port Fairy – rest day
The timing for a rest day today was
excellent as it was a stormy rainy day with vey strong gusty winds exactly as
predicted.
We decided to take a walk along The Marina
in the rain and then quickly back to town to find a warm café for coffee and
cake. There we met a group of local senior cyclists – they came in very
bedraggled and wet and they told us that they had cut their ride short as even
for seasoned local cyclists the wild stormy conditions were just too difficult.
Later we jumped in the campervan for a
drive along Ocean Drive and parked for a while as whales had been spotted there
for the first time yesterday – but no sightings for us.
A sandwich back in our cozy apartment and
the afternoon was conducive to laziness so luckily a movie on Foxtel which
appealed to both of us – ‘War Horse.’
Afterwards dinner at the oldest licensed
premises in Victoria – The New Caladonian which is conveniently located across
the road from where we are staying. A great pub dinner – a good warming beef
& guiness pie with a salad & hot vegetable buffet. And here’s hoping
tomorrow’s weather will be a bit better than today’s.
