Started with rain and ended with rain !!
Tough day in the saddle with average speed 28.9 kms per hour.
Followed the road next to the railway line where we saw 1km long coal trains pass by around every half hour.
Stayed at Bottlebrush Caravan Park (thank you for the free stay!!) which was opposite The Blackwater International Coal Centre. After setting up camp we walked over and visited the centre which had a very informative display about the history of the world in relation to the history of the coal industry.
Later Meaghan, a very friendly journalist from the Biloela and Emerald newspapers came to visit us to interview us about our trip. We enjoyed chatting with her and she later emailed us the wonderful 2 page story she had written which had gone into these newspapers.
We were the only non-miners in the Bottlebrush Caravan Park. It was interesting to see the miners arrive and return from their shifts (they do 5 shifts each of which is 12 hours, per week). We also heard and saw the coal trains passing by heading to and from the coast.
